The new opera season is firing up in Parma.

New emotions are coming to Parma for all music lovers. Rigoletto will be the first work to open the opera season on 12th January in the fascinating frame of Teatro Regio di Parma. This opera, in three acts, is based on the libretto by Francesco Maria Piave from the play Le roi s’amuse by Victor Hugo. On the occasion of the 50 years of Leo Nucci’s career, the baritone will return to Teatro Regio to perform one of the most beloved roles in the historic setting by Pier Luigi Samaritan.

Roberto Devereux will be the second opera to be hosted on the stage of Teatro Regio on 15th March. The tragedy is composed of three acts by Gaetano Donizetti, libretto by Salvatore Cammarano, after Ancelot’s Elisabeth d’Angleterre. The work is in co-production with Teatro Regio di Parma and Teatro La Fenice in Venice.The performers are Mariella Devia, Sonia Ganassi, Stefani Pop, Sergio Vitale, Alessandro Viola e Ugo Guagliardo together with the Orchestra dell’Opera Italiana directed by Sebastiano Rolli, while the Coro del Teatro Regio will be conducted by the maestro Martino Faggiani. 

On 23th March La Traviata will be on stage at Teatro Verdi in Busseto. La Traviata is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi set to an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave and it is based on La Dame aux Camellias, a play adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas, fils. The performance is organized in co-production with Teatro Comunale di Bologna and with Fondazione Orchestra Haydn in Bolzano and Trento. The singers are the artists of the project winner of the European Opera-directing Prize sponsored by Camerata Nuova in collaboration with Opera Europa and will be accompanied by Orchestra and Coro del Teatro Comunale di Bologna.

Tosca will be the last opera presented at Teatro Regio on 27th April. It is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe  Giacosa. The opera and the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana will be conducted by Fabrizio Maria Carminati while the chorus conductors will be: maestro Martino Faggiani for Coro del Teatro Regio and Beniamina Carretta for Coro di Voci Bianche di Parma.
