Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini is one of the most important Italian orchestras committed across the boards in the name of an Italian myth: Arturo Toscanini the “hero of the two words” of music, the first great conductor of the modern era.

Arturo Toscanini, active between Italy, Europe and America, between two centuries, is the first conductor to have achieved a unique media resonance; he was a mixture of artistic genius and charismatic personality. To him belongs, still today, the record of the longest tour in history: 8 months and 127 concerts. Between 1920 and 1921, after having touched twenty-one Italian cities, the Maestro embarked for New York with “Toscanini’s Orchestra” and he conducted concerts in US and Canadian cities, recording part of the musical programs.

Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini has performed under the baton of important conductors like Charles Dutoit, Eliahu Inbal, Lawrence Foster, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Michail Jurowski, Dmitrij Kitajenko, Emmanuel Krivine, Yoel Levi, Lorin Maazel, Kurt Masur, Zubin Mehta, Georges Prêtre, Mstislav Rostropovich, Jeffrey Tate e Yuri Temirkanov.

Enthusiastic approvals by the audience and critics have hailed debuts and returns to the greatest concert halls from all over the world in cities like Washington, New York, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Hamburg, Moscow, Lucerne, Budapest, Bucharest, Warsaw, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Osaka, Beijing, Shanghai, Canton. In Italy the concert on January 18 2008 remains unique for all, which has witnessed the orchestra’s debut at the Teatro alla Scala with a triumph of public for the conclusion national celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Arturo Toscanini’s death.
Since 2007 La Toscanini has been the orchestra of the International contest of orchestral conducting and since 2012 it has been artistic partner of the Festival Verdi of Parma.
