Day 1

 

Arrival in Parma and walk through the city centre up to Piazza Duomo with visit to Cathedral and Baptistery

Free time to enjoy the city centre or visit the Teatro Farnese, Parma’s masterpiece.

Lunch up to you.

Transfer and visit to a wine cellar on the green hills.  The owners will explain what is behind some of Parma’s most famous wines.  Tasting of three wines paired with local products.   

 

Dinner at a gourmet restaurant in Parma city center.

Night at hotel or relais de charme or agriturimo.

 

Optional:

Book your ticket to one of the unmissable Concerts of the Festival Toscanini or the Teatro Regio di Parma Opera Season or La Toscanini Concert Season for unforgettable evenings in the surrounding villages or in the parks and theaters of the city.

Seize the opportunity to visit the temporary exhibition “Antelami a Parma – Il lavoro dell’uomo, il tempo della terra” inside the Parma Baptistery up to 13 January 2023.

 

Day 2

Breakfast and check-out. Transfer and visit to a Dairy producing Parmigiano Reggiano PDO on the hills of Parma with your private guide specialised in food and wine. Meet the cheese makers, taste the different degrees of maturation of the cheese, visit the amazing maturation rooms, discover the secrets of cheese making.

Transfer to a family-owned ham factory and learn about the production steps and the secrets to recognise the quality of Prosciutto di Parma PDO. Tasting in a big room with a panoramic view or on an outdoors terrace: it will be a celebration of unique flavours! On the way back, photo stop at the Castle of Torrechiara, perched on the hill overlooking the valley, surrounded by vineyards as far as the eye can see.

Day 3

Those who would like to stay an extra night can enrich the programme with:

  • Possibility of renting a car with driver, to experience a slow tour on the hills of Parma and Reggio Emilia.
  • Environmental hiking guide available during the (e-)bike tour.
  • Upon request, short classes on how to cut Prosciutto di Parma PDO: by hand or using the historical Berkel slicers.
  • Possibility (to be confirmed in advance with the various producers) to adopt a set of barrels and to produce one’s own balsamic vinegar.
