Parma, which was already an important city in medieval times and in the history of Roman art, was the capital of a small duchy from 1550 to 1859. Located in a fortunate geographical position, Parma today has 170,000 inhabitants and is characterized by a high standard of living. Piazza Duomo (cathedral square) with the Baptistery, the Cathedral and the nearby St. John’s Church and the Pilotta Palace, with the Farnese Theatre and the National Gallery, are the two tourist poles of the city. The St. Paul’s Rooms, the Steccata Church, the Ducal Park and the many museums are other stages of a precious tourist itinerary linked to the masterpieces of Antelami, Correggio and Parmigianino...

Signs of the ducal capital can be seen in the streets, in the buildings and in the elegance of the many boutiques, in the cordiality of the people and in the rich surrounding area, where Stendhal's famous Certosa, the Magnani Rocca Foundation, the fortresses and castles stand out, as well as the precious "cathedrals" of local products.
