An unforgettable journey through the whole Emilia Romagna region, from Piacenza to Faenza. The tour combines the visit to unusual and unique gardens and parks, real green paradises that are part of the history of the area, to the discovery of art masterpieces and top food products. The tour focuses more closely on Parma Low Land where Maestro Giuseppe Verdi was born and lived. There will also be the visit of prestigious opera houses, interesting museums, cooking lessons and Opera evenings.

Starting from the city of Piacenza, this special cultural route runs along the Emilia Romagna region and combines enchanting garden tours in the best Italian parks and some free moments to discover art masterpieces and wonderful foods, focusing more closely on the territory where Verdi was born and lived; there will be also the visit of prestigious opera houses, interesting museums and Italian schools of music.

First day

Arrival in the charming medieval village of Grazzano Visconti near the city of Piacenza. Grazzano Visconti hosts a beautiful park nestled in a village with a real medieval castle.
Guided visit to the Castle Park, considered a real Secret Garden, full of fountains, statues, bridges and small ditches. Special Italian lunch in a restaurant in the village and free time to visit the ancient borgo. Transfer to Gropparello village (about 30 min): welcome tea in the fascinating rooms of the medieval castle and then visit to Castello di Gropparello and to its Fairy-Tale Park. After the enchanting guided tour, dinner in the Castle or in a restaurant near the hotel. Overnight stay in the romantic Tower Barn in Gropparello Castle or in hotel de charme.

Second day

Breakfast in hotel, check-out and transfer to Parma Low Land, towards Verdi Land; stop in Roncole Verdi and Busseto to visit the places of the Maestro’s life. Lunch in Busseto or on the banks of Po river surrounded by the nature and the agricultural holding that hosts the restaurant and the ancient Culatello di Zibello cellar. Afternoon, transfer to Parma, city of Marie Louise of Austria and visit to the enchanting Giardino Ducale di Parma. Wanted by Duke Ottavio Farnese as the place for the entertainment of the court, it was born through the mid-XVI century and inspired from French gardening treatises between XVII and XVIII centuries. Free time for typical products and Violetta di Parma shopping. Overnight stay in hotel in Parma or in a luxury historical hotel.

Third day

Free day for shopping in Parma to visit the city centre and unique monuments (Teatro Farnese, Teatro Regio, the beautiful Piazza Duomo with the Romanesque Cathedral and pink marble Baptistery, Glauco Lombardi Museum that recalls the life and passions of Marie Louise of Austria with interesting objects of her life.
In the afternoon special visit to the largest bamboo maze in Italy created by Franco Maria Ricci in Fontanellato, a few miles from Parma..
Optional: a romantic night at the opera at the Teatro Regio di Parma or at Teatro Verdi di Busseto or at other music event in Parma, the Italian capital of music.
Overnight stay in hotel in Parma or in a historic home.

Fourth day

Transfer to Modena and full immersion in the green hills to visit the Museo Giardino della Rosa Antica with welcome rose based breakfast followed by the guided visit to the Ancient Rose Garden with a workshop dedicated to roses.
During the afternoon, you will discover the beautiful contemporary gardens of Villa Amagioia in Varignana near the city of Bologna, BO) and pic-nic in the garden with a rich snack with special tasting of local products. You can apply to attend a short course on cooking fresh pasta and the typical Italian “tortellini”.
Dinner at your leisure in Bologna. Overnight stay in hotel in Bologna or in a charming residence.

Fifth day

Breakfast in hotel and check-out. Transfer and guided visit to Villa La Babina Park in Sasso Morelli. Immersed in the countryside of the small borgo, this carefully landscaped park has all the the key characteristics of the 19th century parks. Breakfast or typical tasting session.
In the afternoon your special travel will continue with the discovery of the beautiful Villa Montericco Pasolini near the city of Imola with and interesting and entertaining tour of the orchards and vineyards that surround the property. You will be then surprised to visit a jewel, the very refined small eighteenth century garden of Villa Pasolini dall’Onda.
Dinner in Villa Montericco Pasolini or in hotel in Faenza.
Overnight stay in hotel in Faenza.

Sixth day

Breakfast in hotel. Guided tour around the center of the beautiful city of Faenza and its wonderful Museum of Ceramics. Opportunity to visit a pottery workshop, on request. Typical lunch in Faenza city centre or in Tredozio. Afternoon dedicated to the discovery of the charming Palazzo Fantini and of its beautiful gardens. The Park and Italian style garden are treasures of great charme. You can complete your visit into the Museum of Country Life next door. After the visit, you will have a food tasting of fine local products and wines. Departure.
